Frequently Asked Questions
about IconForge and ActivIcons
Q: When I try to convert the Color Depth of an icon within a multiple-resolution icon, the image becomes corrupted.
- This is because the resolution for the icon has already been set when you initially placed it into the file. When you try to change the resolution, the new image won't fit into the space originally allocated to it. To change the resolution, follow this procedure:
- In the Multi-resolution .ico window, double-click on the image/frame to edit it;
- - From the image editing window, go to the "Options"/"Icon Color Depth" to select the new color resolution;
- - Instead of saving the image, click on the green "+" icon at the bottom of the editing window to export the icon back into the multi-resolution .ico;
- - Close the editing window without saving;
- - In the Multi-resolution .ico window, you will notice a new icon has been added for the resolution you chose. If desired, delete the original version.
